February 25, 2012 7:00 – 9:00 pm $25 if paid by 2/21, $40 at the door.
This will be our first Yoga Nidra Workshop. We will explain the structure and process of Yoga Nidra and why it all works, including the different brainwaves and what happens during each state and why Yoga Nidra helps.
Yoga Nidra is different from generic meditation by its structure, which is designed to take participants to such a deep level of relaxation that brainwave activity actually slows down. In this relaxed state is where great change and healing – physical, metal, and emotional – can take place. Due to time constraints, we just aren’t able to fully explain the structure of Yoga Nidra during the hour-long group session each month. This workshop will provide a space where we can go deeper into the workings of this meditative practice.
We will also help you craft an intention. An intention is like a mission statement for your life, something that guides you and keeps you on course. Unlike a goal, and intention is with you along your journey, not just a point you arrive at in the future. An intention is a way to mentally organize and align what we say, what we think, and what we do, helping us recognize and shift out of our habits.
The Yoga Nidra workshop will last 2 hours and will include a guided Yoga Nidra session when you can begin using your new intention. After the session, there will be a period of time for journaling as well as question and answers.
Please pay in advance to reserve your space as this workshop is limited to 10 participants. Upon payment, you will receive a list of items to bring and a series of questions to answer in advance to assist in forming your intention. Email info@shantayoga.com with any questions.

Would you like to start practicing yoga but are intimidated by regular classes? There are also those who haven’t practiced in a while and would like to renew their practice at a more relaxed pace, as well as those people who seek help with alignment in certain postures while reviewing the basics of yoga. The Beginners Workshop is just what you need!
During this workshop we will teach the basics of yoga postures and how to work with, rather than against, your body while showing you how to modify postures to work best for you. Basic breathing techniques are also demonstrated and taught.
Questions are always encouraged but especially so in the Beginners Workshop. This is the perfect time to ask those questions that arise during regular classes but that you don’t ask because you don’t want to disrupt the flow of class. This workshop is open to everyone and is accessible to anyone regardless of your experience, strength or flexibility.
